First Portrait

I've been dreading this section of my course.

I don't take photo's of people. Unless they ask. And that's few and far between!

I took this photo because I wanted to enter a dpreview photo challenge entitled "almost twins".

People are always saying that I'm the spitting image of my Mum. I don't see it. She can't see it.

What do you think?

This is one of those quick kitchen window-light shots - 20 minutes from extending the legs of my tripod, to having 5 shots in the camera. Just a hint of reflector help - it was balanced on my Mum's foot!

  1. Tanya, this is a lovely portrait...way better than my first portrait. Or, the one I took of me and my Mom at Christmas. I like the use of Black and White, because it adds to your "almost twins" objective by limiting the differences between yourselves. Your expressions mimic each others as well. Definitely see similarities between the two of you.

(On a side note, I love photography because it has so much to offer the artist. You're dreading the portrait section, I've been impatiently anticipating it!).

  2. Very nice! I think you did a great job on this. I need to shoot my portraits too. I'm not eager to pose people... But I'll get. Yup I see the a great bit of similarity between you two!
